Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
The GuideOne Foundation Board of Directors and GuideOne Foundation Employee Advisory Committee (GFAC) work to support several charitable organizations through monetary donations and volunteer opportunities. Check out the ways you can get involved:
Bidwell Riverside Center
Bidwell Riverside Center provides life-changing assistance to vulnerable Iowans to help them on their path to self-sufficiency. They have an ongoing need for volunteers to help:- Stock and organize donations to their food pantry;
- Host children's activities at the homeless shelter;
- Help provide dinners to homeless families;
- Paint classrooms in the child care center;
- And more!
Children's Cancer Connection
Children's Cancer Connection (CCC) is a nonprofit organization that serves families impacted by pediatric cancer who are diagnosed, treated or living in Iowa. Volunteers are needed for their annual Camp Heart Connection Oncology and Sibling Summer Camps in June and August 2023. Volunteers play an integral role in ensuring that camps run smoothly, and there are a variety of roles available.

Young Women's Resource Center
The Young Women's Resource Center (YWRC) advocates and provides programming for young women ages 10-24 to become strong, self-confident and successful. Volunteers are needed for a variety of projects, including fundraisers, food or donation drives, preparing and serving meals and child care.

How Others Are Volunteering
- Team members from across the country donated to Feeding America and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa through GuideOne Foundation's Spread the Love campaign.
- Andrea Arthur and volunteers in the Home Office made gourmet dog apples to assist with an Animal Rescue League fundraising event.
- More than 80 team members from Core participated in a special Build a Bike® event during their annual meeting at the Home Office to put together 14 bicycles that were donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa.
- GuideOne team members led by Lori Chappell participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's to support the fight against Alzheimer's and other dementia.
- Several GuideOne team members volunteered with Little Hands on the Farm at the Iowa State Fair.
- GuideOne team members helped Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Rock the Block in our community.
- Valerie Greene used VTO to participate in the Great American Clean Up with others in Greensboro, N.C.
