Territory Update

2021 is off to a great start at GuideOne, and I hope your year is looking promising as well. In this issue of the GuideOne Monthly you will see some of our recent wins as well as an update on a new GuideVantage value-added service.

Nonprofit Update

I am excited to introduce your new nonprofit underwriter. Katie McDonough joined GuideOne in January, and she will begin her role as the nonprofit and education underwriter for our territory on February 22.

Katie has more than 30 years of insurance experience, half of which she has spent in the Human Services and Education segments at Great American, First Nonprofit/AmTrust and most recently Hanover Insurance.  

She earned both her BBA and MBA from Loyola College (now University) in Baltimore, MD. Katie was born and raised outside of Baltimore, where she still resides with her husband, Jeff, and Chihuahua “Peanut.” Katie and Jeff are empty nesters with four sons, two daughters, two grandsons and a granddaughter on the way. When not spending time with her family, Katie is active in her church and loves to travel.

As the nonprofit/education underwriter for Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas, Katie looks forward to working with you. Please feel free to reach out to her directly at kmcdonough@guideone.com or 515-267-5089.

Until February 22, Ann Carruthers will continue to be your go-to person with nonprofits and education. Ann has been wonderful to work with and has done a great job. I thank her for all her hard work and wish her well as she transitions to another territory.

BillingCenter Invoices on GuideLink

You may now access BillingCenter invoices on GuideLink. Follow these steps to locate an invoice: 

  1. From the GuideLink home screen, click on the Find Customer tab
  2. Enter the policy/account information and click Search to locate the customer’s Policy Record
  3. Once you are viewing the Policy Record, select View Documents.

2021 Deductible Changes

As we continue to see an increase in deductibles across the market, GuideOne will implement a minimum deductible of $2,500 for new and renewal business in all niches, effective May 1, 2021. This may vary based on certain risk characteristics. Please reach out to me or to your GuideOne Underwriter if you have any questions.

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) provides non-violent and de-escalation training and certification programs to equip organizations with skills, confidence, and an effective framework to safely manage and prevent difficult behavior. 

 

The program's proven strategies give human service providers and educators the skills to safely respond to various levels of risk behavior while balancing the responsibilities of care.

Boiler Inspections...It's Time

Boiler inspections are a critical step in ensuring the safe operation of the boiler and overall facility. Applicable policyholders should take the time now to prepare for and schedule their inspection.

 

Remember that effective May 1, 2020, GuideOne teamed up with Travelers BoilerRe (TSB) to provide Equipment Breakdown coverage on our Commercial Property and Business Owner’s Policies. This change took place for all policies effective on or after 5/1/2020.

 

Policyholders needing to schedule a jurisdictional boiler inspection will need to identify their GuideOne policy effective date to determine the appropriate equipment breakdown reinsurer.
