Territory Update

 

Now that 2021 is in full swing, what is your strategy for growing your business this year? Here are a few areas where I think GuideOne has gained momentum and where we can continue to grow substantial new written premium:

  • PolicyCenter® is Launching in New York on March 1, 2021 for new business and June 1, 2021 for renewal business. We started taking new business submissions on February 6, 2021. To learn more, view our PolicyCenter Rollout presentation.
  • We continue to write a significant number of religious organizations of all sizes. Through our small business portal, you can rate, quote and bind a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) for an account up-to $5 million in less than 20 minutes. Recent enhancements including our small church BOP offer a broad church appetite designed to meet the unique risks these organizations face.
  • Masters/GAP Programs: Our offerings allow you to insure religious organization headquarters and affiliated institutions under a collective program (one policy with certificates issued to each church). Please reach out to me if you have any large group opportunities, such as church denominations, large nonprofit multi-state operations, or other types of accounts. View more information here.
  • Large Multi-State Workers’ Compensation: Our service offering includes customized claim dashboard reports, online access to adjuster’s notes and individual client loss control service plans. Minimum premiums are $100,000 for senior living communities and $50,000 for nonprofit and human services, religious organizations and educational institutions. View more information here.
  • Improved Coverage and System Offerings: The launch of PolicyCenter and our new billing system, BillingCenter, provides streamlined servicing – making processing for new customers and existing policyholders easy and convenient.
  • New Nonprofit Enhanced Forms: These enhancements proved favorable at the end of 2020 and will be available in New York once PolicyCenter launches. Let’s continue to build on this as a key advantage of GuideOne in the months ahead!
  • Nonprofit & Human Services continues to be our fastest growing niche with hit ratios approaching 50% in many classes of business. Our minimum premium for Nonprofit is $5,000, but we are competitive at any level! As you can see below, our appetite is broad and there are many organizations that would be a good fit.

BillingCenter Invoices on GuideLink

You may now access BillingCenter invoices on GuideLink. Follow these steps to locate an invoice: 

  1. From the GuideLink home screen, click on the Find Customer tab
  2. Enter the policy/account information and click Search to locate the customer’s Policy Record
  3. Once you are viewing the Policy Record, select View Documents.

Effective May 1, 2021: Deductible Change

As we continue to see an increase in deductibles across the market, GuideOne will implement a minimum deductible of $2,500 for new and renewal business in all niches, effective May 1, 2021. This may vary based on certain risk characteristics. Please reach out to me or to your GuideOne Underwriter if you have any questions.

Boiler Inspections...It's Time

Boiler inspections are a critical step in ensuring the safe operation of the boiler and overall facility. Applicable policyholders should take the time now to prepare for and schedule their inspection.

 

Remember that effective May 1, 2020, GuideOne teamed up with Travelers BoilerRe (TSB) to provide Equipment Breakdown coverage on our Commercial Property and Business Owner’s Policies. This change took place for all policies effective on or after 5/1/2020.

 

Policyholders needing to schedule a jurisdictional boiler inspection will need to identify their GuideOne policy effective date to determine the appropriate equipment breakdown reinsurer.
